Forest Hike

Yesterday we explored Portland by bike... today on foot via the "Nob Hill to Kings Heights to Pittock Mansion Loop" from Portland Hill Walks.

Click here for photos. Emily also took some photos which she will be posting to her blog soon. The kids were still smiling at the end of the six-mile trek (that could have been because we bribed them with gelato, but whatever works!).

River Ride

We took a ride around the waterfront today... downtown to Sellwood & back on the Springwater Corridor.

There were lots of sights to take in downtown, given that it's the start of the Rose Festival, not to mention Saturday Market, Memorial Day Weekend, and after a week of rain... it was sunny! Click here for photos.

No lacrosse this weekend for Emily due to the holiday, but click here for photos from last week's game. It was one of their best yet!

Hope everyone enjoys Memorial Day Weekend!

P.s. Only 9 more days of school left! (Not that anyone here is counting.)

Aloha & Hau'oli la hanau

It's been a busy birthday weekend here. It took Jake and Emily several days to fully celebrate their special days. There was dinner at the Raccoon Lodge complete with magic show; a murder-mystery luau party with friends; and best-gift-ever-special-delivery-birthday-package for Emily from Gamewright - an advanced copy of Mermaid Beach!

Drew had his final sailing regatta of the Spring season this weekend - the WSC/Toe Island Cup. Emily continues her weekly lacrosse games and after today's new member tea, is officially a part of National Charity League. As for Jake... it was him, on the bus, with the blowfish poison. Turns out he was the guilty party in the murder mystery game!

High Jumps & Mothers Day Highlights

Drew made cinnamon rolls for Mother's Day breakfast while Jake and Emily conducted a poetry reading from poem books they made in their block class. Being a mother of three herself, their block teacher really knows how to time and take full advantage of the 6th grade language arts poetry curriculum!

This was followed by a neighborhood field trip to Sky High; a stop at the Farmers Market for vegetables, both ready to eat and ready to plant; and an all around nice (albeit wet) day.

Jake had his final track meet of the season over the weekend, it was Freaky Friday at Bridlemile (alumni get to volunteer), and Drew set up his new man-cave in the basement. Two photo albums follow...Mother's Day Weekend and Jump shots.

Next up... the twins are turning 12 this week!
