Vancouver BC Weekend

Click here for photos from earlier this month when Emily and I spent WWU's Fall Family Weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia, just 60 miles north of Bellingham. It was rainy, but the fall colors and waterfront views were amazing. Pictured above is a view of Lion's Gate Bridge as seen from Stanley Park.

Click here for some additional photos from Drew's and Pat's recent travels, and Jake enjoying life as a Beaver.

Click here for photos from our weekend at the Oregon Coast, which included a stop at the Wildlife Safari Park in Winston, Oregon, then a drive north along the coast from Coos Bay to Neskowin. We hiked in the dunes near Florence; to Heceta Lighthouse and the spouting horn at Cape Perpetua near Yachats; and to the top to Cascade Head near Lincoln City.

Meanwhile in Oregon...

Click here for photos from Labor Day weekend for the Oregon-based portion of our family - a trip to the beach and a lot of jumping around at The Big Bounce. There aren't many places in Oregon that aren't crazy hot and/or on fire right now, so we mostly stayed close to home.

Zanzibar & more

Pat spent a recent Kenyan holiday weekend in Zanzibar. Click here for photos of his time diving and exploring Zanzibar's Stone Town, with a few Oregon and Australia photos mixed in.

In other recent happenings, here's video clip of the August 21st Total Solar Eclipse taken at Oregon State, which will be Jake's new home in just 13 days.

Copenhagen Canals

Today we started with the Changing of the Guard, then explored the waterfront near Copenhagen's Little Mermaid statue, then rented a boat for an afternoon canal tour.  Click here for photos.

In other news, Jake got some great news today... he was successful in earning his IB diploma.

Tivoli, Copenhagen

Our first full day in Copenhagen included a visit to the famous Tivoli Gardens. Founded in 1843 and located in Copenhagen's city center, Tivoli is among the world's oldest amusements parks.

Click here for photos from Tivoli, Nyhavn Canal, Aiai Weiwei's exhibit focusing attention on the refugee crisis, the baroque church spiral we climbed for views of the city, and a stop we made at Egeskov Castle on our way to Copenhagen.

Northern Most Denmark

If there's a"furthest point _____"we will find it! Here we are at Denmark's northern-most tip. The North and Baltic Seas are literally colliding right behind us.

Click here for additional photos from our drive north to see Skagen's dunes, Grenen's sand spit, and Hirtshal's tiny harbor, plus some shots from around Aarhus.

MOMU

Click here for photos from our visit to MOMU... the Moesgaard Museum of Culture, Archaeology and Ethnography and home to Grauballe Man. The picture above is part of a fabulous exhibit and film currently showing at MOMU called The Journey.

It was a rainy day in Denmark, but the early evening weather was dry, which made the Marselisborg Mindepark pictured below a fun post-museum stop.

Today on the Oregon Coast... 56 degrees and 5-8' foot waves. "Thrumpy" according to Drew and Jake; and not friendly toward boogie boards.
