Howdy from Cactus Gulch...

We managed to squeeze in a Wild West murder mystery birthday party for Doc and Kate this weekend in advance of their departure to TN for DI Global Finals. It was also time for Battle of the Books - our favorite event of the school year! Here are photos.

Drew is busy brushing up on his Shakespeare in preparation for a class trip to Ashland, OR, next week for the annual Shakespeare Festival. He is also wrapping up the Spring team sailing season.

Just 3 more weeks of school, and we'll official be an all middle schooler household!

Camp DI

The kids put on quite an event this weekend... part fund-raiser/part fun-raiser for their trip to DI Global Finals, it was an afternoon of problem-solving, pin-trading practice and pinatas! Here are 3 photo albums from a busy week:

2. Can Collecting

3. Track Practice

Moment in Time

Click here and you'll be connected to the New York Times "Moment in Time" Project, which features photos taken all over the world at the same moment on the morning of Sunday, May 2, 2010.

If you look through the photos submitted from the Pacific Northwest, you'll see a familiar face... Emily is in there! Drew took her photo when she was blowing on a dandelion and submitted it for the project.

Speaking of moments in time, here are a couple of photos of Jake and Emily celebrating their #11 birthdays. The occasion was marked by the addition of a new Nerf gun to Jake's arsenal; by the signing of Emily's contract with Gamewright, which has agreed to publish her "Day at the Beach" card game as part of their 2011 game line; and with pizza. Celebrations will continue into next week (when their party is scheduled).

Mother's Day Mayhem

The weekend started with Freaky Friday, the annual school carnival, and ended with a neighborhood game of "Humans v. Zombies". In between, there was lots of great "be outside/let's light up the fire pit" type weather, a parade in which Emily marched with the 5th grade band, and general good times. Here are some photos.

What is Humans v. Zombies you ask? Copy the link below into your browser, then watch and learn. You might even want to sign up for the next game!

Spring Sailing & More

Here are 3 photo albums:

1. Drew & team braving the elements in Silverdale, WA, for some district sailing races.

2. Enjoying spring with some backyard fun.

3. Judge Drew and a few other random shots we found on Pat's phone.

A note about album #3... Drew's block class just finished a mock trial, and Drew played the role of judge. From the looks of these random snap-shots, he's played all sorts of roles over the past year!
