Pendleton

We experienced a dramatic scene change after leaving Chicago - from nothing but skyscrapers to nothing but sky in Pendleton, Oregon. We were visiting the Umatilla Indian Reservation as part of a Bar board meeting Pat had to attend. The weather was a bit stormy, but that just made the scenery all the more interesting.  The drive home through the Columbia Gorge was lovely too. Click here for a few photos.

Our 48-hours in Chicago - Part 3 of 3

We had hoped to check out Chicago from the top of the John Hancock Center on our final day, but it was too foggy up there, so we opted for stroll along the River Walk. Click here for a few photos. We also spent a little time on the Magnificent Mile and biked up to Old Town before it was time to catch our flight back to Portland.

Our 48-Hours in Chicago - Part 2 of 3

We had a great day exploring the Art Institute of Chicago. Click here for photos, mostly by Jake. After a day of art, we biked north along the waterfront to check out Lincoln Park and Old Town. Divvybikes.com has made getting around very easy.

Our 48-Hours in Chicago - Part 1 of 3

We arrived in Chicago this afternoon, and the day really flew by.  We explored the area around Buckingham Fountain and the Navy Pier first. Click here for photos.  It was cool and sort-of-sunny, so we picked up some bikes-to-go and took a ride along the Lake Front trail, then walked to Giordano's for deep dish pizza, before calling it a day.

Kayaking on the Willamette

We spent the afternoon kayaking along the Willamette River, through downtown and around Ross Island.  It was a beautiful day to be on the water.  We saw lots of Dragon Boat Teams practicing for next weekend's Rose Festival races.
