Orca's Island

We stuck with a "surf and turf" theme again this year for Spring Break... a couple of days at Mt. Hood to kick things off, then some time near the water to wrap-up the week.

Our water-based activities took place on Orca's Island - part of Washington State's lovely San Juan Islands - where Drew participated in his first big sailing regatta. Here is a photo album from the trip.

In addition to the trip to Orca's, Drew got another very special gift on the occasion of his 14th birthday... a new baby cousin, Abigail Rose! Congratulations to Uncle Jeff, Aunt Jen, Jack and Liam on the addition to their family!

Drew's first regatta went well. He had 5th and 6th place finishes in a couple of races (out of 23 boats); got to practice his capsize-recovery skills once (and managed to stay dry in the process); and generally had a great time.

As for Jake and Emily, they found lots of ways to entertain themselves while Drew raced.

Spring Skiing

Spring Break 2010 is off to a GREAT start and it's not over yet!

The boys spent Tuesday and Wednesday up at Timberline with Dad tearing up the slopes while Jo and Emily spent some quality time at home. Here are video clips of Jake and Drew showing off their ski jumping talents:

Sailing Practice

Drew's spring sailing season with the Lincoln HS Team is underway. Here are some photos of him sailing a 420 with his sailing partner, Vickie. They race three days a week so Jake and Emily find ways to entertain themselves in the clubhouse.

Go Devil Ducks!

It was a big weekend for Jake and Emily and their Destination Imagination team. They competed in their regional tournament this past weekend and came home with 1st place medals and a Renaissance Award. Their classmates on other teams also did well, so everyone will be continuing on to the State Tournament next month. Here are photos from their competition, the preparation phase, and whatever else was on the camera from the past few weeks.
