There's a lagoon and some mangroves just behind the beach at Whiskey Point where we spotted wild elephants and water buffalo.

The photos in this album where taken mostly at the Whiskey Point surf break, just north of Arugam Bay, where the boys caught some great waves. The beaches in Arugam are among the nicest in Sri Lanka - clean and uncrowded with beautiful turquoise water.
While staying at the Danish Inn, the villa manager taught the kids to play Carrom, a table top billiards-style game that is very popular in Sri Lanka.

We started blogging in 2007 to document a year-long family sailing adventure. Upon returning to our home base in Portland, Oregon, in 2008, our adventures and blogging continued. Sri Lanka and Malta took center stage for our 2018-2020 adventures. We were bicoastal (OR and PA) for a while in 2020-2022, but as we look ahead to our 16th year of posts, we're together in Oregon once again.
