Spring Break - Updated

It started with a snow day, followed by two lovely Spring-like days, but after that Spring Break has been a complete wash-out. One more inch of rain, and Oregon will have had the wettest March on record... not that we're letting any of this get in our way!

Click here for photos of our week, which has included a lovely day in the park, a fun-but-blustery trip to the coast, another glass-blowing class and a big day for Drew, who is now a licensed driver. More photos.

Drew's Big Day

Happy Birthday Drew! Can't believe it's been 16 years!

Drew celebrated his special day with some spring skiing at Timberline, followed by a delicious Moroccan dinner at Marrakesh, and the unwrapping of his new espresso machine and other gifts. Click here for photos, and stop by if you're in the mood for a latte!

Sailing Regatta (Updated)

Drew participated in a two-day high school sailing regatta at Willamette Sailing Club this weekend. Click here for photos.

He and his sailing partner Mattie had some great races, sailing along with about 100 other sailors from across the Pacific NW. They had several first and second place finishes, placing fifth overall.

Pat volunteered our Catalina 22 as the committee boat for Sunday, making good use of its pop-top to keep the race committee warm and dry. We also got to host a nice group of sailors from Bainbridge Island, as part of billeting function that goes along with high school regattas.

Fire Station

To celebrate their great finish at the DI Regional Tournament, the boys got to take a field trip to Fire Station #1 yesterday to borrow their vast collection of weights. They needed to find out once and for all, just how much their structure could hold. The answer: 1,030 lbs. Click here for photos.

As long as they were in the neighborhood, they took time to tour the station and check out all the equipment. Thanks Jamie for a great afternoon!

Corvallis Here They Come...

Both Jake's and Emily's Destination Imagination teams advanced to State at yesterday's metro tournament. Congratulations CanDI Rappers and Chopsticks on a job well done!

The boys' balsa-wood structure held nearly 500 lbs and 11 golf balls before maxing out the crusher machine in their challenge, called "Hold It!". They had a strong 2nd place finish. The girls collected more than 1,200 books as part of a community service project promoting childrens' literacy for their "Project Outreach" challenge and took first place.
