Happy Easter and Happy Birthday Pat

Click here for photos of our various April adventures. Here on the East Coast, we have been getting our boat ready for sailing season and settled in at a new marina on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  The sunset photo above was taken from our new slip at Worton Creek Marina.

Out on the West Coast, Jake has been building boats with the nonprofit, Wind and Oar, and spending time at the coast; Drew and Grace just won an Easter weekend regatta on Orcas Island; and Emily spent the holiday weekend in Bend.  She's also got a fun new Instagram channel - #thefaceineverything.

Portland had a very unexpected April snow storm and Philadelphia's weather has been like a yo-yo, but we're all hoping Spring might finally be here.  Pat's birthday is usually a good indicator.  Happy Birthday Lil' Ray.  Here is a throw back from a birthday-past (circa 2016).

And here is a video clip from an Easter-past (circa 2001), rediscovered when we did our VHS digitization project earlier this year.

Happy Birthday Drew

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DREW!  26 years... each one of them amazing! Click here for photos of how Drew celebrated the first year of his second quarter century.  We love you Big Son!

Cherry Blossoms and More

We made a trip to D.C. to see the Cherry Blossoms at peak bloom. Click here for photos.

While in D.C, we also visited the Smithsonian Museum of Art and National Portrait Gallery, the African American Museum of Art, the Futures exhibit at the Smithsonian Art & Industry Building, and more, including the #ifthenshecan exhibit of women in STEM pictured below.

March in Portland

We are just back from a few days in Portland to spend time with the kids, see friends, and celebrate Drew's birthday a couple of weeks early. Click here for photos, which include highlights from a trip to the Portland Art Museum to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit, some walks around the neighborhood, and a visit to Wind & Oar Boat School, where Jake is now working as an instructor and Americorp member.

As previous noted in our January Recap blog post, one of our winter projects here in Philadelphia has been to digitize lots of old family VHS tapes and photos.  Here are links to a few of the "through the years" photo albums we compiled:

Emily on Broadway

Click here for photos from our whirlwind weekend in New York City with Emily. We made our first visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was amazing, and also visited the MOMA.  We also saw our first Broadway show, The Book of Mormon, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which we loved. We walked 20+ miles over 2 days, from Central Park to Union Square, and along the Hudson River Waterfront Greenway, which we sailed past back in 2007.

Below is a photo from Emily's summer 2017 trip to NYC, when we met up with Aunt Samantha, Jadyn and Ashley to check out her art on display at the Pratt (via the Young Artists Program); and a photo from this weekend taken in the same location, across from Radio City Music Hall.

February Highlights - East and West

Click here to see a mix of photos from February's adventures - both east coast and west; sunny days and colder ones.  The album includes the first part of Emily's recent trip to PA, our visit to Philadelphia's Magic Garden, skiing for Drew and Grace, and here is another album with highlights of Jake and Elli's snowy vacation week at Holden Village on Lake Chelan, WA.

January Recap

January has come and (almost) gone.  Click here for photos of how we spent it - skiing in Oregon and Idaho for Drew and Grace, a visit to Seattle for Jake and Elli, Fig-sitting, sunny walks, and museum trips for Emily, and the first big snow storm of the year here in Philadelphia.

It proved to be an especially cold, snowy weekend for Chestnut Hill on Ice, which wrapped up Sunday evening with an ice bonfire. Some video clips of the fire are included in the photo album linked above.

We have been using these cold winter days to digitize some VHS tapes from when the kids were little. Here are just a few of the fun memories we've surfaced:

Oklahoma 2002
Oregon 2003
Hawaii 2006
