Sewing & Square Dancing
Emily and friends had wonderful, wardrobe-expanding week thanks to a sewing camp they attended. Click here for photos of their handiwork. The album also includes pictures from our trip to Sauvie Island to watch our favorite local musician, Ashleigh Flynn, perform.

Camping & Crawdads
We are just back from a wonderful long weekend of camping at Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood with a dozen or so other families. Here is a photo album.
The weather was amazing and there was lots of time to enjoy hiking and kayaking and general good times with friends. Drew got the opportunity to learn from a master, Mark, about how to catch, cook and serve a crawfish boil. As for eating them, Pat would be the master on that.
Mark and KC kept the kids well fed with bacon and pancakes each morning; Jake kept the chipmunks well fed via a "trap" he set up near our campsite.
Emily and friends spent most of their time in and on the water, and everyone had a splashing good time!

Signs of Summer
The past week came very close to perfection, both in terms of weather and general contentment with the universe... the kids enjoyed lots of hanging-out time with friends and took time to explore some new hobbies. We got a chance to reunite with our exchange student from 2009, Eduardo, for Tuesday at the Park, and spent another Friday evening at the sailing club enjoying all things that float. Click here for a photo album.

Family Sailing Night
Blog Post by Drew... On Friday night we went down to the Willamette Sailing Club for a fun evening of family sailing. While we were down there we got to enjoy the club's new SUPs... that’s short for "stand up paddle" boards. We paddled around the harbor in between sails. Here are photos.
4th of July
Here are photos from our 4th of July festivities, which include a neighborhood parade, a pig roast with our dinner club and other friends, an egg-toss and fireworks show.

So many talents...
Drew got his first sailing medal! He and his partner Vickie placed 3rd in the Vancouver Lake Youth Sailing Regatta last weekend.
It's been a lovely week here. Drew has been serving as an assistant coach for a class of beginner sailors. Jake and Emily started their library duty as summer reading program volunteers, and took in a dog tricks show at a nearby park after their shift.
A talent show and soccer game were among this week's highlights for our weekly summer neighborhood gathering, Tuesday in the Park. Click here for photos.
Happy July!
